Interactive Battlefield Trail

Description of Programme

The NExtgen Immersive Experience is designed to impart and inspire the National Education (NE) messages to the next generation of participants in Singapore through location-based mobile technology.

In the Interactive Battlefield Trail, participants will be able to explore the various locations in Kent Ridge, learn interesting facts about them while engaging with fun and meaningful activities including games, the collection of AR collectibles and more through LDR's award winning ‘Locomole’ mobile application.

Learning Objective / Total Defence Pillars

Kent Ridge (also known as Pasir Panjang Ridge), being one of the highest points in Singapore, played a huge role in the deployment of the British Forces in the Southern part of Singapore. The Battle of Kent Ridge also evokes memories of the fearless and relentless fighting spirit of the fiercest battle ever fought in Singapore. The Battle of 200 saw 200 soldiers from the 1st Battalion Malay Regiment led by Lt. Adnan Saidi fighting relentlessly against 3,500 men from the Japanese Imperial Army. From this trail, participants will be visiting prominent checkpoints including the Kent Ridge Lookout Point, to gain deeper insights about Kent Ridge and its significance for our Battle for Singapore.

Maneuver Warfare
Learn how Yamashita was able to successfully apply the concept of maneuver warfare to cause the collapse of the British Defence in Singapore within 6 days.

Singapore's most ferocious WWII Battle Site

Explore one of the most ferocious battle-site in WW2 Singapore at Bukit Chandu and learn about what’s behind the heroic acts of the Malay Regiment and their willingness to lay down their lives against an invading Japanese Division.
